Who We Are
The Mokena Lions Club is comprised of nearly 70 men and women of Mokena who donate their time, talents and efforts to a variety of community projects -- including assisting the visually and hearing impaired, feeding the hungry, and supporting other local organizations who also work to address the needs of the citizens of Mokena and surrounding communities.
Club Leadership
The Mokena Lions Club is led by the Board of Directors, consisting of the Club President, 3 Vice Presidents, 6 Directors, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Director and Immediate Past President.
A new board is nominated annually in April and installed at the June Membership meeting, for service through the following year (as an exception, Directors typically serve a 2-year term).
The President serves a 1-year term, while the 3 Vice Presidents move up in position each year to succeed the President -- 1st Vice President becomes President, 2nd Vice President becomes 1st Vice President, and so on.
The Board of Directors meet on the monthly basis to monitor activities of the various club committees, set and maintain committee budgets, review club financials, vote on local initiatives, and review solicitations of individuals and other community organizations for donations and assistance.
General Membership Meetings
The Mokena Lions General Membership meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at the Mokena VFW Wm Martin Post 725, 19852 Wolf Road.
Meetings begin with a social gathering at 6;30 PM, followed by dinner at 7:00 PM, and the formal meeting beginning at 7:30 PM. Our meeting agenda includes reading of that month's Board meeting minutes, committee updates of progress made in planning upcoming events, and general topics of discussion. Guest members from other Lions Clubs often attend, as do invited members of local organizations whose goals and objectives align with those of the Lions.
